Vacationer’s Relief – Album Review

Vacationer’s sophomore effort boasts a dozen laidback, feel-good pop tracks. On Relief, the Philly outfit has captured the feel of an escape to sunny climes: chilled R&B-flavoured melodies are combined with pop synth and breezy vocal harmonies to produce what is being described as Nu-Hula.

Lead singer and bassist, Kenny Vasoli, attributes the album’s positive vibe to spending time with fans on the road during the band’s busy touring schedule. Vasoli’s gentle crooning and uplifting lyrics dominate tracks such as Stay, with its steel drums and island beats, Vision and its swelling strings, and the radio-friendly centrepiece, The Wild Life.

If you’re in the mood for a sonic chill pill loaded with pretty orchestration, Relief is just the ticket.
