Tove Styrke – ‘Borderline’ EP Review

21 year old Swedish pop singer/songwriter Tove Styrke may have begun her career as the winner of Swedish Idol in 2009 but their a lot more depth to this edgy pop star than her reality TV roots. Taking two years away from the spotlight helped her develop a maturity to her sound and get to establish her distinct stamp on the pop industry. We caught up with the pop star ahead of the release of ‘Borderline’ EP, to read it go here.

Describing it “like a compilation” of what she has been doing for the past two years, the six track EP opens with the ballsy title track ‘Borderline’. The reggae inspired pop song is an edgy anthem about finding one self amongst confusion. The synth driven ‘Brag’ is a mellow, slight R&B inspired track, which is nicely followed by the pacing beat and up-tempo rhythm of ‘Even If I’m Loud Doesn’t Mean I’m Talking To You’.

Each song on the EP displays a different facet of the pop singers’ sound, showcasing a depth of influences, ranging from reggae to alternative. Overall, ‘Borderline’ EP is full of catchy songs that are bound to be stuck in your head for days on end!
