Kylie Minogue: I’m definitely not replacing Keith on The Voice

Australia’s favourite pop princess, Kylie Minogue spoke with The Kyle & Jackie O Show this morning to promote her brand new album The Abbey Road Sessions.  Taking the team behind the scenes of recording her new album at the infamous Abbey Road, she revealed that she was ‘giddy’ and ‘couldn’t help but be a bit in awe of the place’ especially as she remembers seeing The Beatles being interviewed on the very steps she walked up. And both Kyle and Jackie O were shocked when she confessed that the one thing that she didn’t do was take a sneaky picture of herself on the world famous zebra crossing!

Kylie also revealed that despite the persistent rumours, she is not in discussions to replace Keith Urban on the voice – but as big fan, she admitted it’s ‘definitely something that could happen in the future’.

Jackie O:
Now there’s been a few rumours going around – because Keith Urban has been, well he’s left to go to American Idol, he was the mentor here on The Voice…

Kylie Minogue:

He’s legged it has he?

Jackie O:

Yeah, he legged it outta here.

Kyle:

Yeah, he bailed.

Jackie O:

…so they were saying that they were trying to get Kylie Minogue as a possible – have you heard anything about that?

Kylie Minogue:

No

Jackie O:

Well then I would imagine it’s not true!

Kylie Minogue:

No seriously, no, I haven’t.

Kyle:

Well, we’ll just cross that one off the list then.

Kylie Minogue:

I think it might just be a wild, vicious rumour.

Kyle:

Would you do any of those shows?  Because obviously Danni does so well and is a joy to work with, or is that just not your cup of tea – you prefer being the artist, you’ve got no time to stop for three months to do TV things, what’s your story there?

Kylie Minogue:

Well I think that you’ve hit the nail on the head, it is a really big commitment and I know from my sister working on those shows over the years that, you know, you don’t just turn up to work, you bring it home and you get really involved and you’ve got to be really ‘in’ it.

Aside from that, I don’t know.  I would definitely say that it’s something that could happen in the future, it’s just so far I’ve resisted.

Jackie O:

Never say never.

Kylie Minogue:

It just hasn’t felt right yet.  The way things are going and the success of those shows – I mean I love watching them as a viewer, I’m a fan – so who knows?  Maybe one day.
