The season of outdoor film officially kicks off this week with the return of the much loved Moonlight Cinema. The annual event will run from December until March 2015 and takes place in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Port Douglas and, of course, our very own Sydney (starts Dec 11).
This year, the season has more to offer than ever before, with a number of red carpet events and featuring an unprecedented 20 never-before-seen previews in the first half of the schedule alone. This includes the highly anticipated Dumb and Dumber sequel, Dumb and Dumber To, that reunites the cast of the original 20 years after the release of the hugely successful first film and is showing on the 18th December.
Melbourne and Sydney are both in for a special treat this year as the festival promises weekly live music every Saturday, to really get people in the spirit of the event. Also new this year, the Moonlight Cinema will be embracing the LA food movement with a street-style truck will be serving up a variety if tantalising treats for those that don’t want to bring their own picnic, offering viewers more than just the usual box of popcorn and a hotdog.
Director Ian Sutherland was on hand at a recent launch event that happened in Martin Place, to gave those in attendance a flavour of what is to come from the forthcoming season and discuss how this year was going to be bigger and better than ever.
“2014/15’s Moonlight Cinema will have something for everyone from previews, to family films and cult classics, whilst the new food trucks across the country, along with live music nights at our Sydney and Melbourne venues, are going to really bring a summer party vibe to Moonlight Cinema,” comments Ian.
Back by popular demand, Doggie Nights will also make a return for the season ensuring you can watch your favourite film, or something new, with you beloved pooch.
Available once again with be the outdoor theatre’s premium service, Gold Grass, which offers viewers the ultimate outdoor cinema experience with reserved bean beds in a premium viewing location and waiting service, meaning you won’t even have to get up from your bean bed.
