‘If I Stay’ Blu-Ray Review

Thanks to 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment we had the chance to see ‘If I Stay’ starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Jamie Blackley in Blu-ray.

if-i-stay-image-1‘If I Stay’ is based on the acclaimed novel written by Gayle Forman. The romantic bestseller has been brought to the big screen by director R.J Cutler (The September Issue) and is now finally available on DVD and Blu-ray across Australia.

The film tells the story of a seventeen-year-old cello prodigy, Mia (Moretz), whose life is torn apart by an horrible tragedy, leaving her caught between life and death.

if-i-stay-image-2The story goes between her life before and after the accident, showing some beautiful family moments, her love of music and her cello practice. One day while practicing the cello, rising-rockstar Adam (Blackeley) feels mesmerised by her passion, and due to his persistence and against all odds, he becomes her adored boyfriend. A beautiful love story follows, depicting, the ups and downs of their relationship and the struggle through the tragedy were Mia has to decide if she should let go or stay.

if-i-stay-blurayIn his debut performance, R.J Cutler brings Moretz into her first grown-up central role as a leading actress. However, her performance feels honest, yet bland.The emotional drama and the beautiful story behind young and unique first love is what keeps this movie together attracting the audience to its limit.

The home edition Blu-ray includes great special features, including a gallery, deleted scenes, audio commentary by director R.J Cutler and Alison Greenspan., a featurette, ‘Beyond the page’, the music videos ‘I Never Wanted to Go’ and ‘Never Coming Down’ and even a music commentary by the director.

‘If I Stay’ is a highly recommended romantic treat to enjoy especially this Valentine’s Day.
