I, Frankenstein – DVD Review

Thanks to eOne Entertainment we got to see ‘I, Frankenstein’ on DVD, a fantasy-action film produced by the same team that brought us the Underworld saga.

During its cinematic release this Australian produced re -imagining of the Frankenstein monster fell victim to poor reviews and even worse box office numbers, due to a terrible script and an absolutely miscast Aaron Eckhart in the lead role. Now ‘I, Frankenstein’ hits stores on DVD and Blu-Ray in an attempt to give the film another chance.

‘I, Frankenstein’ follows the iconic monster of Frankenstein (Aaron Eckhart) as he becomes involved in a war between two immortal clans, a battle between the light and the shadows, between Gargoyles and Demons, without knowing that the key to win this war is inside him.

The DVD only includes a couple of extra features. One of these is “Creating a Monster”, in which the cast and crew talk about the idea behind the film and why they decided to take this risky approach. The “Frankenstein’s Creatures” featurette is perhaps the best bit of the DVD as we get to have a closer and more detailed look at the gargoyles and demons created for the film.
