Roadshow Films is thrilled to announce today it will release the Australian musical GODDESS in
cinemas on March 7, 2013.
Starring Laura Michelle Kelly and Ronan Keating, much-loved comedian Magda Szubanski, Hugo Johnstone-Burt and Lucy Durack, GODDESS was shot over nine weeks in Tasmania and the outskirts and CBD of Sydney.
An extraordinary songstress, the Olivier Award winning Kelly has received critical acclaim from Broadway to the West End for her performance as Mary Poppins – a role she took leave from to shoot GODDESS.
A major international recording artist and X-Factor judge, Keating has sold more than 22million albums and is the only person ever to have 30 consecutive top 10 singles in the UK charts. GODDESS marks his first feature film role.
Director Mark Lamprell and producer Richard Keddie recently returned from France where GODDESS screened at the Cannes International Film Festival market.
When young mother of naughty twin boys Elspeth Dickens (Laura Michelle Kelly) installs a webcam in
her kitchen, her funny sink-songs make her a cyber-sensation.
While her husband James (Ronan Keating) is off saving the world’s whales, Elspeth is offered the
chance of a lifetime. But when forced to choose between fame and family, the newly anointed internet
goddess almost loses it all.
GODDESS will be directed by Mark Lamprell (co-writer Babe – Pig in the City and director My Mother
Frank and After the Rain) musical director is Judy Morris (co-director Happy Feet, writer Eye of the
Storm) screenplay by Mark Lamprell and Joanna Weinberg, director of photography Damian Wyvill.
The film will be produced by Richard Keddie (Hawke and Little Fish) and Andrena Finlay (Razzle
Dazzle and Me, Myself, I)
GODDESS is yet to be rated and will be released in Australian cinemas on March 7, 2013.
