Produced by Absolutely Productions and John C. Reilly himself, the show is a parody of many TV shows. Reilly’s character, Dr. Steve Brule, acts as the show’s host, who introduces a topic, goes deep into it and even invites celebrities or experts to share some ideas about it, all in a very silly way, including badly filmed episodes, lame conclusions and lifestyle tips. One of the funniest elements is the way Brule speaks: many words include a “br” in his pronunciation, (e.g, “Broat” (Boat)).
It’s weird to see Oscar nominee John C. Reilly in this role, and it might take a couple of episodes to fully get into this comedy show, as the style is sometimes extremely silly, and some secondary characters are a bit annoyingly over the top. However, Reilly somehow manages to deliver some funny bits that are sure to make you laugh, especially at the end of each of the episodes when he presents a check list of his conclusions. Some episodes are so stupid and funny at the same time, one of our favourites being the one about fear, in which Dr. Brule confesses to being scared of “pruppets” (puppets).
