Lingerie Football League ready to invade Sydney and Brisbane!

Lingerie Football League, LLC. (LFL) and Allphones Arena have today officially announced a partnership that will bring the ‘fastest-growing sports league in the United States’ (BusinessWeek) to Allphones Arena on Saturday, 9 June, 2012.

The 2012 LFL All-Star Game will feature 32 of the most athletic and beautiful women across the league as the Western and Eastern Conference teams clash in front of projected capacity crowds in Sydney and Brisbane, two cities that the LFL has identified as being potential homes for two of the franchises in 2013.  Expect these games to be as explosive, combative and competitive as all the LFL games are as each player strives to impress for selection into the teams in 2013.

Playing a modified version of US NFL Football, Lingerie Football first hit the playing fields and TV screens as an alternative half time entertainment program on Super Bowl Sunday with the Lingerie Bowl attracting millions of viewers worldwide. And yes, while it was indeed the scantily clad bodies that attracted the initial, mainly male, viewership, it didn’t take long to realise that these beauties were also serious sportswomen ready to kick some serious arse! Eventually men and women and families turned up and switched on to cheer on their favourite players.

The mass appeal of the sport was instantly evident and in 2009 the LFL was established premiering to sell-out crowds and millions of primetime TV viewers. The league consists of 12 teams from across the United States who play a 20 week season culminating in the ultimate showdown that is Lingerie Bowl. This year’s broadcast shattered viewing records for MTV Networks with an estimated 43 million fans tuning in worldwide.

LFL Football, described at the ‘ultimate live sports experience’, has developed one of its largest international fan bases in Australia having developed a cult-like following on Australian broadcaster Fuel TV since the league’s inception in 2009. As much success as the LFL has enjoyed in the US, internationally the appetite for LFL Football has been even greater being broadcast in nearly 43 countries and drawing near capacity crowds in previous international game play in Mexico and Canada. The appeal internationally has been strong enough for the LFL to announce the formation and kick-off of several international leagues to include LFL Canada (Fall 2012), LFL Australia (Summer 2013) and LFL Europa (2014).

In Australia for the official launch, Mitchell S. Mortaza, Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC. said “We could have never imagined the incredible response of Australia to LFL Football. While we have received offers previously to bring LIVE exhibition games to Australia, we have never had the opportunity to team with the experience and savvy of a group like AEG Ogden. This is truly a significant moment in the short history of the league as we take our first step toward introducing Aussies to LFL Football and the eventual premiere of LFL Australia in 2013.”

LFL’s Los Angeles Temptation All-Star and Queensland born Chloe Butler is the face of the LFL in its push to establish an Australian league. Chloe will serve as the ambassador of LFL Football coming to Australia and will captain the Western Conference squad in the LFL All-Star Games in June. Being back in her home country playing LFL is a dream come true for Chloe who said “I can’t wait to play matches on home turf! Wait till Australian crowds see the competitiveness and the explosive action of the game. We’re so ready to rumble, Australia!

Tickets to the inaugural LFL All-Star Game go on sale at midday this Friday, 13 April and prices range from $20.00 up to $99.00 for All Star Super Tickets which will give ticket holders exclusive entry to the LFL’s own post match party where they will have the opportunity to mingle with the players themselves (transaction fees may apply).

Be there when the ladies of the Lingerie Football League invade our shores – They’re fierce, fired up and ready to bring you a show the likes of which you have never seen … just don’t get on their bad side!

LFL Australia is set to premiere in its inaugural season with franchise teams in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in 2013.
