On Friday 10th October, pop superstar Ronan Keating hosted THE EMERALDS & IVY BALL, with fellow X Factor judges Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Dannii Minogue. Funds raised on the night totalled $400,000*, which will be donated to Cancer Council’s Ronan Keating Fellowship that aims to reduce the impact of cancer on the community covering prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, support and palliative care.
The event was attended by celebrity guests including Boyzone, Jemma Rix, Glen McMillan (Wonderland), Marta Dusseldorp (A Place to Call Home), celebrity chef Miguel Maestre, Scott Tweedie, Jason Dundas, Kylie Gillies, Katie Noonan, Angie Hart, Melody Pool, Sam Buckingham, Storm Uechtritz and X Factor’s Luke Jacobz.
Town Hall was transformed into THE EMERALD CITY and guests enjoyed incredible live performances including Defying Gravity by Jemma Rix from the Broadway blockbuster WICKED the musical. Katie Noonan performed songs from The Songs That Made Me with Angie Hart, Sam Buckingham and Maples; X-Factor finalist Marlisa Punzalan and Dean Ray also entertained guests, Ronan Keating and Boyzone performed from their new Motown album and greatest hits; and DJ RedFoo got the party rockin’ with his latest tracks.
Nearly 40 luxury and money-can’t-buy auction items were up for grabs on the night. Prizes included an Escape to South Africa holiday package with South African airlines and More Hotels; Luxe Houses table for 10 Private dining experience with Ronan Keating at Darling Point, Sydney; and a luxurious holiday at Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai.
Ronan founded the Emeralds and Ivy Ball in the UK nine years ago and it’s become one of London’s most prestigious charity events. He partnered with Cancer Council Australia to bring the ball to Sydney two years ago and it’s grown significantly each year, raising over $500,000.
