Aldo v McGregor Promo Shows UFC Mean Business

After an unprecedented world tour kicked off the promotion machine for UFC 189: Aldo vs McGregor, which culminated in an explosive Dublin press conference, the UFC has significantly upped its game with new trailer for the battle that shows the world’s leading MMA organisation is ready for the big leagues.

Following its debut at the recent UFC 187, which in itself was one of the best cards we have seen in recent years, the one minute trailer has combat sports fans buzzing for the July showcase.

The trailer focuses on the main event of the evening that pits the champion, Brazil’s Jose Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) against the cocky (excuse us, we mean confident) Irishman, Conor McGregor (17-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC), for the undisputed UFC Featherweight Championship.

McGregor’s rise in the UFC has been nothing short of meteoric whilst Aldo, USA Today’s No.1 featherweight, has dominated the division in emphatic style over the last couple of years.

Both have no love lost when it comes to this contest, as was evident throughout the promotional world tour which saw the two nearly come to blows on a number of occasions.

Over the last few weeks, many have compared this to the UFC’s equivalent of the recent Mayweather v Pacquiao fight, with some commentators even suggesting that the lack lustre affair was good for the sport of MMA.

When discussing the investment in the event, UFC President, Dana White, recently commented in Las Vegas that the fight was likely to do over one million PPV hits and that the promotion would “probably break even…that’s how much money we’re spending.” He also went on to state that; “What we want is this to be everything that Mayweather-Pacquiao was not.”

After a number of stoppages at UFC 189, we have no doubt that this will be anything but a dull affair.
