‘Tokyo Ghoul’ S1 Collection (Uncut) Blu-Ray Review

Thanks to Madman, we got our hands on the first season of the bloody anime hit, Tokyo Ghoul, in full Blu-Ray glory.

tokyo-ghoul-2Based on the manga by Sui Ishida, the series follows 18-year-old university freshman and book addict, Kaneki, who decides to go on a blind date with the stunning Rize, without suspecting that she is indeed a Ghoul, a creature who feeds from human flesh.

Kaneki is almost devoured by Rize, but her feeding frenzy is interrupted when part of a construction site falls on top of her, also leaving Kaneki seriously injured.

In order to save him, and unaware of their situation, doctors decided to use Rize’s organs for a transplant, something that will change Kaneki’s life forever. He is to become the first half-human Ghoul, who desperately struggles to control his hunger and new skills that, with the help of a mentor, he will soon use to take down some evil ghouls.

tokyo-ghoul-1Tokyo Ghoul is one of those animes that are set to be an instant classic. The series delivers an intense yet well-developed story, spectacular animation, good soundtrack and a ridiculous amount of gore and action.

As a whole, this is a great series and viewers won’t be able to turn the TV off. However, this series is not suitable for the impressionable or for those seeking light comedy.

Overall, this is a solid release that is sure to be praised  by Aussie fans everywhere.
