The first ever Oz Comic-Con Brisbane kicked off in style yesterday, with entertainment enthusiasts, gamers, sci-fi and comic book lovers, cosplayers, fans and their families flocking through the doors to enjoy a day full of all things pop culture at Oz Comic-Con.
Day one of the two day event would not have been complete without an exclusive experience panel with Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean star, Orlando Bloom, and Q&A sessions, autograph signings and photo opportunities with celebrities such as popular Games of Thrones actor Jason Momoa and pop culture legend William Shatner.
A day full of excitement saw fans turn out to enjoy panels with Nicholas Brendon and Emma Caulfield from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, as well as Chris Judge from Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis’ David Nykl and Kavan Smith.
Also appearing at the event were The Hobbit’s Dean O’Gorman and Stephen Hunter, as well as voice actors Bill Famer (the voice of Goofy), Jim Cummings (the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger), Monica Rial (Dragon Ball Z Kai), Rodger Bumpass from Spongebob Squarepants and Paul Eiding, who is best known as the voice of Grandpa Max in Ben 10 and Colonel Roy Campbell in the “Metal Gear Solid” series.
Event spokesperson Rand Ratinac was blown away by the enthusiastic response to day one of the two-day event.
“Opening the doors to the first Oz Comic-Con Brisbane event was an exhilarating experience and the fans have made the event and its fabulous guests feel very special. We can’t wait to see what day two has in store as it has a lot to live up to,” said Ratinac.
Doors opened this morning on Day two of Oz Comic-Con Brisbane, with excited crowds ready for another day of family friendly entertainment. Sydney fans will be in for more of the same when Oz Comic-Con heads to Sydney on September 13-14.
