Eromanga Sensei Vol 2 Review

Thanks to Madman, we watched the second part of Eromanga Sensei (Eps 7-12) in glorious Blu-ray quality.

The story of young writer Masamune Izumi continues and he and his little sister (the legendary illustrator Eromanga Sensei) decide to follow their dream to create the ultimate light novel and get it adapted into an anime series. However, despite everything seeming to go according to plan, another writer (Murasama) steps up with the sole purpose of destroying Izumi’s dream. This unleashes a competition among them that ends up with them in hilarious situations including awkward love triangles and the classic trip to the beach to Elf’s house, where the gang was set to work hard to improve their writing… something that doesn’t quite happen.

Volume 2 is definitely superior to the first six episodes as the episodes here are fast-paced, the comedy is improved and the story gets deeper by revealing each character’s true feelings and purposes. Elf becomes the highlight of the series, especially after she introduces her “Elf-looking brother” to her friends.

Overall, it’s a fun return to the series. It’s definitely worth a watch and it leaves the door open to many more adventures, hopefully with Sagiri out of her room.
