‘Blue Exorcist’ Vol 1 Blu-Ray Review

Thanks to Madman, we got the first volume of the new anime hit, Blue Exorcist, on Blu-ray.

blue-exorcist-2This supernatural anime follows the journey of Rin Okumura, a teenager who always seems to find trouble, despite his trying to be nice. He loses every job he gets and has been despised by many from a young age, even being labelled ‘little demon.’

Rin and his brother, who is his total opposite, are adopted by a priest who is actually an exorcist. Their lives seem to be improving until Rin starts to see creatures everywhere that nobody else can. A horrible truth is revealed when he is confronted by a demon who calls him Prince: the reason being that he is the son of Satan.

blue-exorcist-1Blue Exorcist at first seems to be the classic supernatural animation, with creatures and epic gory battles everywhere. However, this is not the case as the series mixes the violence and seriousness of the plot with a lot of comedy, especially involving Rin while trying to get a job, using clever jokes, hilarious superdeformers and colourful, fully detailed animations.
