Featured Australian Artist: Author Marianne de Pierres released “Burn Bright”

We are really pleased to introduce and feature our first fair dinkum Australian writer  in our site: Marianne de Pierres, who was one of the “Supa-Stars” in the latest Supanova in Melbourne where we had the honour to meet her. Check our full note below of this true Aussie talented author.

Brisbane-based but Western Australian-born author, Marianne de Pierres, has been publishing books for fifteen years. Some of her novels include the award-winning Tara Sharp humorous crime series (written under the pseudonym Marianne Delacourt )and her multi-award nominated Parrish Plessis and Sentients of Orion science fiction. The launch of her new Young Adult fantasy trilogy, Night Creatures, (Random House Australia) sees the culmination of her life experience and recent interests in gothic architecture and nocturnal lifestyles.

Book one, entitled Burn Bright, has just been released, along with a dedicated single written and performed by Triple JJJ Unearthed winner, Yunyu.

Book Description:
Retra doesn’t want to go to Ixion, the island of ever-night. Retra is a Seal – sealed minds, sealed community. She doesn’t crave parties and pleasure like all the others. But her brother left for Ixion two years ago, and Retra is determined to find him.

Braving the pain of her obedience strip to escape the only home she’s ever known, Retra finds herself drawn deeper into the intoxicating world of Ixion. Come to me, whispers a voice in her head. Who are the Ripers, the mysterious guardians of Ixion? What are the Night Creatures Retra can see in the shadows? And what happens to those who grow too old for Ixion?

Retra will find that Ixion has its pleasures – but its secrets are deadly.

One of the coolest things of this book is that it has a “trailer” for it with an original sound a really great way to promote it!

“Burn Bright introduces one of the most exciting worlds … Ixion is such an easy place to get lost in, helped along by strange, wonderful characters and Marianne de Pierres’s lush writing, which at times feels like you’re floating through a dark dream.” Readings Books.

Marianne de Pierres is an amazing and ingenious writer. The world building is utterly convincing and just bewitching. Ixion is an exotic, inviting yet terrifying world all at the same time.” Girl About Books.

“… a fictional location that is entirely fresh and unprecedented in YA fantasy … everything flowed so effortlessly. Descriptions were lush, sensual and evocative, but never bogged down in superfluous detail …” YA Book Reads

Also as a bonus, enjoy a song preview  for the book performed by Yunyu (pictured above)
