The Ultimate sporting dinner – Footy Rocks in aid’s of Children’s Cancer Institute Australia for Medical Research (CCIA) was held last Friday March 4th, 2011 at the Grand Ballroom in the prestigious Four Seasons Hotel in Circular Quay.
Footy Rocks, a venue that features a night of sporting legends, food and music was hosted by West Tigers Benji Marshall, as Children’s Cancer Institute Australia’s (CCIA) newest ambassador. Players from Wests Tigers, Sydney Roosters, Waratahs, and Sydney FC will attended the dinner.
Footy Rocks was a complete evening of surprise performances, a delicious four-course dinner and several hours of live music and dance. A special auction was performed to sell off once-in-a-lifetime items to the highest bidder, including one-on-one training sessions with some of Australia’s most elite athletes. Footy Rocks aims to raise funds for medical research at CCIA to help save the lives of kids with cancer and eliminate their suffering.
The Institute’s new ACRF Drug Discovery Centre for Childhood Cancer Research completes one year’s medical research in just days. It is the only one of its kind in Australia devoted to childhood cancer research.
Iconic Australian poultry brand Steggles is the night’s major sponsor. Steggles CEO John Camilleri says, “At Steggles we have an ongoing commitment to supporting children’s charities. Our partnership with CCIA commenced in 2002. We have a high regard of their work with families and the wider community in improving the detection and treatment of children’s cancer.
