Former Australian Idol star Shannon Noll is set to release his new album Unbroken on Friday 2 February 2018.
To find out more about the album, thanks to Warner Music Australia, we had the chance to get in touch with Shannon, who currently is in the African Jungle as part of the TV reality series “I’m A Celebrity Get me out of here!”.
SR. Your new album Unbroken is about to hit stores and will include a full Australian tour to support it. What can you tell us about the album? What was the biggest challenge of it?
SN. Well first of all its been a long time coming. It was really important to have the right songs on the album which I think we have achieved. I reckon this is the most honest album about my life and thoughts that I have ever done, I’m really proud of it.
SR. Where your lyrics come from? What would you say is your most personal song so far and why?
SN. I’ve been involved in everything on this album for the first time ever so every song had to tell my story or share my passion. LAND OF MINE and SOUTHERN SKY are both songs that let me share how much I love where we live and how lucky I’ve been so they are pretty personal for me.
SR. Looking back to the days of That’s What I’m Talking About, what do you think musically has changed for you?
SN. Probably just that I know myself and the music I want to release more. I’m more involved in the songwriting side than ever before.
SR. Obviously being a runner up on Australian idol was what put you on the Spotlight for the first time. What would you say are your most important memories of your time on Idol?
SN. It was a great experience and its what has set this all up for me, I loved every bit of Idol even those time I was nervous as buggery. It was a quick education but taught me a lot and I’m still great friends with Guy and Dicko and I value that a lot too.
SR. What do you think of talent shows in general? Do you think there are way too many now?
SN. This is a tough industry to crack so I think that they can be a great platform, I just think they need to focus on the artists and talent trying to break through and not me about the judges.
SR. If you could pick one of the 13 songs on Unbroken as the one to introduce your music to somebody who has never listened to your what song would you pick and why?
SN. I’m gonna say TAKE IT BACK only because I am really excited to perform it live which I haven’t had the chance to do yet. Its got a great vibe and I think live it will be a real highlight!
SR. What advice would you give to young aspiring musicians?
SN. Just know it’s not an easy road, they’ll be up’s and downs but stay true to what you believe and follow your gut. I’ve learnt through many lessons but I wouldn’t change any of it. The most important thing is I’ve learnt this is a business and whilst you have to be passionate, hard work and sacrifice is what you need to do. The fans are the most important thing and you just have to get in there and give your all when performing!
SR. What’s next for you after the tour?
SN. Mate, hopefully a bit of family time but we have more shows about to be announced so 2018 will really be about trying to get the work and family life balanced as my kids are all at the age where Dad (Me) wants to be around a lot and guide them.
