Melbourne’s Maribelle has released the official video for her latest single, I’m A Mess Without You. Directed by the team at John Fish (who’ve previously worked with Nai Palm, Kllo and Lucianblomkamp), the video depicts two friends (Briony Farrell and Tahlee Faraday) who find themselves exploring new territory within their relationship, which comes with its own share of internal conflict.
The video references the very autobiographical nature of the song, wherein Maribelle documents the start of a new relationship – her first with a woman – and coming to terms with her sexuality.
Maribelle says, “I had a very specific vision for this video because the emotions behind the song were very personal to me. I wanted to capture that terrifying feeling of falling in love for the first time. Everybody involved in the video really understood my vision and I’m so happy with how it turned out!”
To celebrate the release of her latest single, Maribelle will perform two club shows this August in Sydney and Melbourne. Tickets are on sale now.
Since the release of her debut EP Overtake in 2016, the Australian singer, songwriter, producer and label owner has performed at FOMO Festival, supported Goldlink and Kaytranada on sold-out national tours, and was a highlight contributor at the recent Bali Songwriter’s Invitational, curated this year by Grammy-nominated Oak Felder (Khalid, Nicki Minaj). Maribelle has also amassed an impressive number of songwriting credits, writing for artists like Young Franco (Miss You), Kilter (I Hear You), and The Voice: South Africa finalist Armand Joubert (Should I). She also founded and manages Crush Club Records.
