Josh Trank to Direct the SHADOW OF THE COLOSSUS Video Game Adaptation

Chronicle director Josh Trank has been linked to films like Venom, The Fantastic Four Reboot (actually he is currently developing this one) and the Red Star.

Today, another hot rumour surrounding Mr. Trank hit the net, because Deadline reports, Josh Trank is now linked to the video game adaptation of the popular play station hit Shadow of The Colossus created by team Ico. It has been reported as well that Sony is currently interviewing writers to work with Mr. Trank in the film.

This is not the first time we heard about an adaptation of the popular game to the big screen, because back in 2009 producer Kevin Misher (The Scorpion King) and Justin Marks (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) were linked to the film. We can assume now, that Josh Trank will start all over from scratch, especially after the results of Justin Marks work with the terrible Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li.

We also must add that Shadow of The Colossus, is one of our favourite video games ever and we are very excited to see Josh Trank behind the camera for the film. If you are not familiar with the story of the game below is the official description from Wikipedia:

The game’s storyline focuses on a young man named Wander who enters a forbidden land. Wander must travel across a vast expanse on horseback and defeat sixteen massive beings, simply known as colossi, in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono. The game is unusual within the action-adventure genre in that there are no towns or dungeons to explore, no characters with which to interact, and no enemies to defeat other than the colossi. Shadow of the Colossus has been described as a puzzle game, as each colossus’ weakness must be identified and exploited before it can be defeated.
