Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby”: Joel Edgerton and Luke Evans are candidates for a role


Australia’s Baz Luhrmann 3D adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” might get another Aussie on board: Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom, The Waiting City), but he won’t be alone in the run for the new role, because the name of Luke Evans (Clash of the Titans) is also there. Moreover, this is not the first time these actors are were both in contention for a role, it happened  not long time ago for “The Bourne Legacy”, with Jeremy Renner ultimately getting the role.

Both actors are candidates to play the role of Tom Buchanan, who was previously offered to Ben Affleck who had to turned down the offer due to schedule conflicts with his next directional film “Argo”.

Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” so far has an incredible cast confirmed with Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role as Gatsby, Tobey Maguire  as Nick Carraway and Carey Mulligan as Daisy.

There is no official synopsis for the film yet, but if you wanna know more, this is the synopsis of the 1974’s film with Robert Redford on the lead role (via. Imdb):
Nick Carraway, a young Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, the nouveau riche Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.
