The Winners for the 73rd Golden Globes have been announced today in Hollywood. The Revenant was the big winner of the night as it won three of the most important awards, namely those for Best Drama Film, Best Male Actor (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Best Director (Alejandro González Iñárritu). For DiCaprio it was his second Golden Globe, as he won two years ago in the category Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his role in The Wolf of Wall Street. Back then Leo did not win an Oscar, but the Winner in the Category Drama is usually a good indicator for who eventually will win the Academy Award. DiCaprio was already the favourite and now his Oscar win next month seems all but certain. Iñárritu got the Golden Globe for Best Director for the second year in a row, as he won last year for Birdman.

The Martian also did well, with the film itself winning in the category Best Comedy or Musical (eventhough it wasn’t even a comedy?!) and Matt Damon winning in the category Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.

Brie Larson won the Award for Best Drama Actress for her role in Room, while Jennifer Lawrence can add yet another Award to her already impressive collection as she won on the category Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Joy. Kate Winslet won in the Category Best Supporting actress for her role in Steve Jobs, beating other big names like Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren.

Sylvester Stallone won his first ever Golden Globe for his seventh performance as Rocky Balboa in the critically acclaimed drama Creed. He surprisingly beat the hands-down favourite in this category, Mark Rylance from Bridge of Spies.

In the category Best Screenplay Aaron Sorkin’s script for Steve Jobs surprisingly beat favourites like Spotlight and Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Mr. Robot surprisingly beat out big series like Game Of Thrones, Narcos and Empire in the Category Best Drama Series, another notable winner was Lady Gaga, who won in the category Best Actress in a Mini-series for her role in American Horror Story

As expected Pixar’s Inside Out won in the category Best animation Film, while Son Of Saul took the award for Best Foreign Language Film back home to Hungary.
