Denim brand G-Star RAW has released ‘Battle for Big Blue’, a mobile game designed to raise awareness about ocean pollution and organically involve people in an interactive way.
‘Battle for Big Blue’ is based on RAW for the Oceans; a project which retrieves plastic from our oceans and transforms it into denim and apparel. Battle for Big Blue pays homage to retro arcade games while bringing the state of our oceans to life.
Users will be able to play as the brand’s mascot, Otto the octopus, as he navigates through different ocean levels to collect plastic waste in the oceans.
Pharrell is confident the game will make an impact with millennial’s; “We aim to raise awareness. No-one who has played this game will ever throw a plastic bottle in the ocean again.”
In conjunction with the Rumpus Room, G-star and Williams perfected the game to ensure that it was up to speed and made for an enjoyable experience. All of the music was produced by Williams while the technical development was left to the Rumpus Room.
You can play as a single player, challenge a friend, or even go head-to-head against Williams. Just be warned of Pharrells high score.
