LFL All-Star Games Tour draws near capacity crowds for their first Australian matches!

After much hype, excitement and controversy, the  Lingerie Football League’s (LFL) first-ever Australian All-Star Games ended on Saturday night with a near capacity crown in Sydney’s Allphones Arena with the Western Conference (Maroons) taking the Series 76 to 61.

The LFL were in Australia for two matches as part of its worldwide All-Star Games Tour which also included a date in Mexico City last month (drawing nearly 16,000 fans) with additional games to be played in Asia in July.

“It was incredibly refreshing to have our vision of LFL Football in Australia validated by the thousands that attended both games creating an amazing atmosphere for our athletes and our game. Anyone in attendance would certainly agree that there is tremendous potential for LFL Football down under”, said, Mitchell S. Mortaza, Founder & Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.

The LFL partnered with AEG Ogden on the tour of Australia playing games in two of AEG’s buildings to include Brisbane Entertainment Centre (Brisbane) and Allphones Arena (Sydney). “We knew the LFL game would translate to Australians and the debut games in Brisbane and Sydney certainly exceeded our expectations“, said, Paul Sergeant, General Manager, Allphones Arena.

At the half time breaks at both games the crowd were introduced to the successful athletes who advanced to compete for the opportunity to play for the Brisbane and Sydney teams in LFL Australia League set to premiere in December 2013. Organisers are thrilled to have had over 130 women vie for spots on the upcoming LFL Australia teams in both cities with 58 (28 in Brisbane and 30 in Sydney) moving forward to the next round.

The LFL’s worldwide tour is part of a strategy to grow the sport internationally. LFL will launch its first international league in August 2012 with the debut of LFL Canada followed by LFL Australia and LFL Europa 2014.
